Running Cartoons

Whether we like to admit it or not, we all enjoy those running cartoons. We enjoy the Roadrunner and other types of cartoon runners. Unlike real people, we see cartoon people running because of the imagination of an artist and television screen. In a small way, they show us about the sport of running albeit with a cartoon runner. Does it really matter? Do the cartoons running teach us about running? Perhaps they do because when we seen a cartoon man running, it's easy to follow the path and know what it is that he is trying to do, how he is attempting to run from whatever obstacle it is that is in his way. In that way we can learn some of the running techniques that help build speed and stamina both on the track and on the trails.

Can watching a cartoon person running give us any insight into the sport of running and the endurance levels that it requires? If you look at the cartoon as an educational show rather than a child's show, you can learn a great deal from a running cartoon. Watch the cartoon girl running to get away from all the obstacles in her way. It brings things into perspective for those looking toward a career in running when they see a cartoon dog running. Though some may not think a running cartoon is of any importance to a runner, the truth is that that any kind of depiction of someone running, cartoon or real life, can help with the visual picture of running for speed and endurance. Because cartoon characters tend to be in more scuffles that require running, they are actually better examples that that of real people.

Within a cartoon, the running is more natural and always ends up at a finish line of sorts. This deviates from that of the human running figure whom is often seen running here and there without any defined destination. With that in mind, a cartoon run showing a character running is more beneficial to someone who is trying to develop a form and pace within their running.

While watching cartoons, make note the movements of the form of the running. Cartoon drawings are the basis for the cartoons, but it's up to the cartoonist to bring them to life. Bringing life to the cartoon animals in a running motion is just one of many ways that a runner can follow more closely the agility and speed that can be accomplished.
