Austin Marathon

The most popular marathon in the Southern United States is the Austin Marathon. Headquartered in Austin, Texas, this marathon requires endurance and strength in order to achieve completion. Many people compete in this marathon every year. It has become more and more popular. The 2007 Austin Marathon was the sixteenth marathon to be held in Austin, making it a very special event. There are some things you should know if you intend to attend the next ATT Austin Marathon.

Just like any other marathon, the AT&T Austin Marathon requires a lot of endurance. If you decide to run a marathon on a lark, you will definitely not finish the race. After all, this is no ordinary race. People feel like they won if they just make it to the finish line. This is because the course is over 26 miles long. The fastest completion of any marathon took over two hours. For most runners, it takes a lot longer than that. Can you run for more than two hours straight with the sun beating down on you? That's why you should train for a while before thinking about entering the Austin Marathon. A good way to prepare for this is to do a half marathon. Half marathons are just that; half as long as a regular marathon. Most people who want to begin running in marathons should do a half marathon first to see if they have trained well enough. If you can barely get through a half marathon, you still more training to do. Luckily, there is a separate Austin Half Marathon that you can compete in if you live in the area.

Once you are ready to compete in the Austin Marathon, you'll need to sign up. Marathons usually only have a limited number of spots open, so you should sign up as soon as you can. It often only takes a few days for a marathon entry list to become full. Diligence is key if you want to be one of the people to run in the next year's marathon. If you happen to run in the marathon and actually make it to the finish line; good for you. The Austin Marathon results will be posted on their website soon after the marathon. If you finished the race, your name will be on that list for all to say. It's quite an achievement, so don't be afraid to flaunt it.
